Top 5 Best Pizza Places in New York

Joe’s

Carmine( west 4th street E or F)

Opened in 1975 this is still the best old school slice joint left in New York City. Both native New Yorkers and visitors alike know the classic original slice is all you really need. The slice screams New York offering the quintessential New York style pizza. Start with their plan slice at the wv location to get creative go to their union square location with bigger ovens comes bigger options..

(Insiders secret…. Start with their plan slice at the Wet Village location to get creative go to their union square location with bigger ovens comes bigger options.)

Johns Pizza

The sit-down place on Bleeker street (Equal distance between the 1 and 2 trains on 7th ave or the A, C, & E trains towards west 4th) only serves whole pies so make sure to bring some friends whenever you want to grab a slice here. Unless you feel bold enough to engorge an entire pie and a pitcher of beer yourself … I may or may not have done this already.

(Insiders secret – the coal gets delivered on Tuesdays. The fresher the coal the hotter the ovens, the hotter the ovens the crispier the pizza! The pizza cooks faster these days so the lines move even faster too.)

Numero 28

A relative new comer ( opened 2006) top notch ingredients straight from Italy. Fresh tomatoes, basil, and cheese that’s way more authentic to traditional Neopolitan pizza. It may not be New York traditional but it is definitely building its own tradition. Our favorite is the signature numero 28

Impressive to taste but just as impressive to look at as it is served to you directly on the pizza peel from the oven which keeps the crust wonderfully crispy as you take your first bite.

(Insiders secret….. the place has frequent deals with online coupon sites)

Bleeker Street Pizza

Opened by a retired NYPD officer who was brave enough to setup shop in the heart of NYC’s biggest pizza neighborhood with his grandmother’s recipes, this place has not only survived but risen to the top of many esteemed restaurant review outlets.

This is the place that broke up my family as we all used to be Joe’s devotees now we are split 50/50. come take advantage of their recently expanded space they also have outdoor sit-down tables.

(Insider secret – they have a damn grandma slice)

Prince Street Pizza

A bit of a walk from the rest of the aforementioned places in this list but well worth the trip across Soho for their spicy square pepperoni slice. For vegetarians and those that like to be pseudo healthy there are great vegetarian slices as well.

For a bit more decadence stop into the little cupcake bake shop for their Brooklyn blackout cake. If you made the walk you earned it, also watch for random celebs in the hood!

(Insiders secret – this is the same location as the actual original Ray’s and a worthy successor)
